Naturopathy
Naturopathic medicine, also referred to as naturopathy or alternative medicine, is a distinct profession that emphasizes prevention, treatment, and optimization of health. The practice of naturopathic medicine involves uncovering the root cause of the issue, followed by assignment of a personalized treatment plan using one or a combination of evidence-based modalities ranging from lifestyle and nutrition counseling to supplementing with herbal extracts, vitamins and minerals, or acupuncture.

What to Expect from your visit with a Naturopath

Your first session will consist of a comprehensive review of your major health concerns, personal and family history, and a relevant physical exam. It is recommended that you bring in a copy of most recent and/or relevant lab tests or scans pertaining to your health concerns. By the end of the visit you will have a plan of action, consisting of health goals, dietary, lifestyle and exercise recommendations, and a personalized herbal/nutrient supplement formulation. The Naturopath may also recommend additional lab testing to help determine the underlying cause of your concerns, or if you have any nutrient deficiencies or hormonal imbalances.

Subsequent sessions are set up to re-assess your health concerns and revise the plan of action in accordance. Change happens in small steps, and so it is important to address any setbacks, and highlight the improvements. This is also the time to bring forth any questions or concerns that may have risen since the last visit.

Psychotherapy
Physiotherapy
Most people are overly aware of and focussed on the physical components that may be contributing to the pain and/or symptoms they are experiencing but tend to be quite unaware of the significant impact of the mental and emotional components. The physical, mental and emotional components are connected and influence each other. Kaitlin understands that to resolve the pain and/mindbody symptoms you’re experiencing, you truly need an approach that incorporates the physical, mental, and emotional components.
Some of the tools and techniques Kaitlin incorporates into her sessions, and/or into your daily life, to address the physical, mental, and emotional components are:
-
Autonomic Nervous System Education (ie Polyvagal Theory)
-
Tools to Help you Regulate your Autonomic Nervous System at Home
-
Pain Reprocessing Therapy
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
-
Hypnotherapy (clinical; parts/inner child work; age, womb and past life regression)
-
Education on How Pain Works
-
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
-
Fascial Mobilization
-
Craniosacral Therapy
-
Somatic Exercises
-
and more….
Kaitlin’s approach is different; however, over her 10 years of clinical practice it is by far the most effective approach she has found to help people manage and resolve the pain and/or mindbody symptoms they are experiencing.

Acupuncture has been practiced in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years. Based on the TCM philosophy, our health can be achieved through the cultivation of harmony within. Health depends on the body’s vital force, or ‘potential’ energy, known as Qi (pronounced 'chi'). Qi travels through series of meridians (channels) beneath the skin. It consists of equal and opposite qualities: Yin and Yang. When these become unbalanced, or the smooth flow of Qi is hindered, illness may develop.
By inserting fine needles in the specific points on the meridians, an acupuncturist can stimulate the body's own healing response and help restore its natural balance. Although acupuncture is used in practice primarily for pan relief, it is effective in treating people with a wide range of illnesses; including, hormone imbalance, menstrual irregularities and infertility, gastrointestinal discomfort, migraines and more.
